Now that I have graduated, may I still use the libraries? Can alumni still check out books?
Answer
First, congratulations on graduating!
Now, to answer your question, anyone, whether alumnus or visitor, is welcome to come to the library and use our materials on site. If you want to check out physical materials, you will need to obtain a library card. There are two ways to do so for Westminster Campus:
- Get a library card (free!) from the Front Range Community College Library on the 2nd floor.
- Get a library card from the Westminster Public Library (also free!) on the 1st floor by presenting a Colorado State ID or mail.
At Larimer Campus, we partner with the public library, Poudre Libraries, to provide services at Harmony Library. You can turn your student account into a regular library card, or if you don't have a student card, your public library card will still work once you graduate! If you don't have a library card yet, you can get one by:
- Bringing a Colorado photo ID to a help desk at any of the three public library branches (Old Town, Harmony Library, Council Tree) or bringing a photo ID from another state and a piece of mail or bill that has your Colorado address on it.
Please note that alumni and community borrowers do not have remote access to the FRCC library databases, electronic journals, or electronic books. Those resources are licensed only for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Because Boulder County Campus does not share library space with a public library, resources found in this library are only available for current students, faculty, and staff with valid S numbers. The BCC Library does not give out physical library cards.
- If you just graduated, your S number stays valid for only one year. This time frame starts with the day you graduated.
